Seed Aide Cover Grow is a premium, weed-free seed mulch that helps hold grass seed in place while improving moisture retention during germination. Unlike traditional straw, this engineered mulch expands when watered to form a protective blanket that reduces washout, improves seed-to-soil contact, and supports faster, more uniform establishment.

Ideal for new lawn installations, overseeding, and repairing bare spots.

Why Use Seed Mulch?

  • Improves Germination – Maintains consistent moisture around seed
  • Prevents Washout – Holds seed in place during rain or irrigation
  • Weed-Free Alternative to Straw – No unwanted weed seed contamination
  • Color Indicator – Blue granules show where product has been applied
  • Reduces Watering Frequency – Helps soil stay moist longer

Best For

  • New lawn installations
  • Overseeding thin turf
  • Repairing bare spots
  • Sloped areas prone to washout

"At 26 days and not one seed visible yet. It seemed to help hold water the first week but then it broke down and had to water more often to keep the ground wet."

Ease of purchase

"This product is excellent for starting grass seed. I’ve used it many times in the past and will continue to do so. But, I would like to say how easy it was to place this order and receive it. I was so happy that I found Synergy and that they had the exact product I needed."

Ideal for fixing tough bare spots

"Seed Aide Cover Growth is ideal for fixing bare spots. This product is the solution to getting results: prepare the soil and seed, top off with Seed Aide and water, and be done with it. It's such a time saver."

Paul D. (5/5)

Very disappointed

"I already left a review, but I received another email to leave a review. I bought several products so maybe it’s for a different product. I have seeded my yard every year for the last 7 years with almost always great results except for one year I seeded too late and it was too cold. I live in north Delaware. This year I bought a 50 lb bag of Lesco tall fescue seed. Lesco starter fertilizer. And 2 bags of seed aide. I watered every day for 10 days, twice a day. Once in late morning and once in midafternoon like I always do. I had about 10% germination rate. I usually use EZ seed mulch. I am not sure if it was the seed, the seed aide or what but it didn't germinate. I put it down in late September. I would not use seed aide again. This was my first time using it. I wasted hundreds of dollars on seed, fertilizer and seed mulch. Frankly I deserve a refund."

Can you apply Seed Aid Cover Grow with a lawn spreader?
not easily, easier to spread by hand
Can you apply Seed Aid Cover Grow with a lawn spreader?
Not a regular lawn spreader because the pellets are too large. Quickest and easiest way is to chicken feed it over any bare areas you have. The best way is to use a material spreader if you have a lot of bags to spread.
