Mosquito Dunks - Biological Mosquito Larvae Control

Mosquito Dunks are a biological mosquito control product designed to kill mosquito larvae in standing water before they mature into flying, biting adults. Each dunk floats on the water surface and slowly releases Bti — Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis — a naturally occurring bacterium that targets mosquito larvae when they feed in treated water.

Mosquito Dunks are ideal for use around the home, farm, business, or public areas where water sits long enough for mosquitoes to breed. Use them in bird baths, rain barrels, ponds, water gardens, unused swimming pools, roof gutters, flower pots, tree holes, ditches, animal watering troughs, and other standing water sites. Each dunk treats up to 100 square feet of water surface, regardless of water depth, for 30 days or more.

For smaller areas, such as bird baths or planter reservoirs, Mosquito Dunks can be broken into smaller pieces. They are also labeled for use in areas where animals may drink or bathe, including animal watering troughs, ponds, and bird baths. According to Summit, they are harmless to plants, fish, frogs, turtles, beneficial insects, animals, and pets when used as directed.

How to Apply

1. Place the Mosquito Dunk directly on the surface of standing water.
2. Allow it to float and slowly release Bti.
3. Use one dunk for up to 100 sq. ft. of water surface.
4. Break into smaller pieces for bird baths, rain barrels, planters, or other small water areas.
5. Replace every 30 days or when the dunk disappears.
