Product Description

Triclopyr 4 Herbicide is a concentrated post-emergent herbicide for controlling tough broadleaf weeds, vines, woody brush, and unwanted trees. It is a strong choice when ordinary lawn weed killers are not enough for weeds such as wild violet, ground ivy, clover, oxalis, plantain, dandelion, poison ivy, blackberry, sumac, and other labeled species.

  • Controls annual and perennial broadleaf weeds
  • Targets woody brush, vines, shrubs, and unwanted trees
  • Can be used on established tall fescue, perennial bluegrass, and perennial ryegrass
  • Suitable for foliar, basal bark, and cut-stump treatments when used according to the label

Best Uses

Use Triclopyr 4 for hard-to-control broadleaf weeds in labeled cool-season turf, or for managing woody vegetation around fence rows, rights-of-way, pastures, non-crop areas, and other approved sites. It is especially useful for poison ivy, wild violet, ground ivy, blackberry, sumac, sweetgum, tree-of-heaven, willow, and unwanted tree regrowth.  Also when mixed with fusilade for bermuda suppression in cool season lawns.

Application Rate

Spot treatments on ornamental turf: Mix 3/8 to 3/4 fluid ounce per 1,000 sq ft in enough water to evenly cover the target weeds. Do not exceed 1.5 fluid ounces per 1,000 sq ft in a single application.

When mixed with water, Triclopyr 4 forms an emulsion and should be continuously agitated during application. Do not water the treated turf for 24 hours. Application rates and mixing directions for woody brush, basal bark, and cut-stump treatments vary by use, plant species, and treatment method. Always follow the complete product label.

Turf Safety: Labeled for use on established perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue. Do not apply to bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass unless temporary or permanent turf injury can be tolerated.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Triclopyr 4 is a post-emergent herbicide. It controls weeds and woody plants that have already emerged and are actively growing. It does not prevent future weeds from germinating.

The label includes wild violet, ground ivy, clover, oxalis, plantain, dandelion, chickweed, lespedeza, ragweed, thistle, burdock, chicory, curly dock, field bindweed, matchweed, mustard, and other annual and perennial broadleaf weeds.

Yes. The label includes poison ivy, poison oak, blackberry, sumac, sweetgum, willow, tree-of-heaven, mulberry, elm, oak, maple, and many other woody plants. Some difficult species may require repeat treatments or a specific basal bark or cut-stump application.

It is labeled for established perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, and tall fescue ornamental turf.

These grasses may be injured. Do not apply to bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass unless turf injury can be tolerated.

Do not water treated ornamental turf for 24 hours after application.

For ornamental turf, repeat applications should be made at least four weeks apart. Do not exceed the maximum application rates listed on the label.

Newly seeded turf should be mowed two or three times before treatment. The grass should be actively growing and well established.

Wait at least three weeks after applying Triclopyr 4 before reseeding, unless a specific label exception applies.

A Surfactant should be added to spray mixtures to improve foliage wetting.
