Product Description

Phast Cal is a premium calcitic lime formulated to quickly raise soil pH in lawns and landscape beds where soil tests indicate acidic conditions.

Proper soil pH is essential for nutrient availability. When pH is too low, grass cannot efficiently absorb nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium — even if those nutrients are present in the soil.

When to Use Phast Cal

  • Soil test indicates pH below optimal range
  • Lawn struggles despite proper fertilization
  • Acidic soils common in your region

Always confirm pH levels with a soil test before applying lime.

Why Choose Fast-Acting Calcitic Lime?

  • Raises soil pH more quickly than standard pelletized lime
  • Calcium-based formula to improve soil balance
  • Improves nutrient availability
  • Supports stronger root development

Unlike dolomitic lime, calcitic lime focuses primarily on correcting calcium deficiencies and raising pH without significantly increasing magnesium levels.

Enhanced with Humic Acid & Sea Kelp

  • 2% Humic acid to support soil structure and microbial activity
  • 1% Sea kelp to assist nutrient uptake

These additions help improve overall soil health beyond simple pH correction.

Phast Cal provides a faster, more targeted approach to soil pH correction compared to standard pelletized lime products.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Phast Cal do for my lawn?

Phast Cal helps raise low soil pH and improve nutrient availability. When soil is too acidic, your lawn may struggle to use fertilizer properly, even when you are applying the right products.

Can I use Phast Cal before seeding?

Yes, if your soil pH is low. Correcting pH before or around seeding can help create a better environment for new grass establishment.

Should I perform a soil test before applying pHast Cal Lime?

You should perform a soil test to see if your ph needs to be increased. If so, follow the application rate instructions to increase ph. However, pHast Cal is great for just a maintenance application once a year.

What makes this better than regular calcitic lime?

pHast Cal includes bio-stimulants like Sea Kelp and Humic Acid for increased plant uptake of nutrients. The restorative effects of kelp on plants is largely due to high levels of cytokinin, a natural growth hormone that promotes cell division in plants, resulting in root and shoot growth, improved photosynthesis and overall improvement in plant health. All natural bio additives increase the population of soil microbes, which increase nutrient efficiency and build healthier soils that store nutrients for the plant.

When should I apply Phast Cal?

Phast Cal can be applied any time the ground is not frozen, but it is commonly used in spring or fall. Fall is a great time because it gives the soil time to adjust before the next growing season.

What pH should my lawn be?

Most lawns perform best when soil pH is around 6.0 to 7.0, depending on grass type. Tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, bermuda, zoysia, and St. Augustine generally perform well in that range.

Will Phast Cal make my lawn greener?

It can help improve color indirectly by making nutrients more available to the grass. If low pH is limiting nutrient uptake, correcting the pH can help your lawn respond better to fertilizer.

Does Phast Cal replace fertilizer?

No. Phast Cal is not a fertilizer replacement. It helps improve soil conditions so fertilizer can work more effectively.

How fast does Phast Cal work?

Phast Cal is designed to react faster than traditional lime, but soil pH changes still take time. Results depend on your soil type, starting pH, application rate, rainfall, and irrigation.

Can I apply Phast Cal with fertilizer?

Yes, lime and fertilizer can be applied within the same timeframe. For best results, water products in and avoid overloading the lawn with too many applications at once.

Q&A

Recent soil analysis of the yielded a pH reading of 5.89, which is moderately acidic, clay soil. What expectations should I have in the amount of PH to be raised when applied as instructed? Do I risk going to over the target PH level of 6 - 7? Or would I be better applying Dolomitic Lime?
This is the recommended product for what you are trying to achieve. This product should be applied at 10 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. to increase the soil PH by 1 point. You could apply the product 8lb. per 1000 if you wish to raise the PH less than 1 point. Dolomitic Lime will serve the same purpose, just over a longer period of time. It will also add magnesium to the soil for a magnesium deficiency as well.
Is it for mostly lawns not food plots correct
It can be used for either crop.
