Certainty Herbicide (Selective Warm-Season Turf Herbicide)
Product Description
Certainty® is a selective, post-emergent herbicide designed specifically for use in established warm-season turf. It targets some of the most difficult-to-control weeds — including nutsedge and unwanted cool-season grasses — without harming desirable warm-season turf when applied properly.
Ideal for homeowners and professionals managing Bermuda, Zoysia, St. Augustine, and other warm-season lawns.
Approved Turf Types
- Bermudagrass
- Zoysiagrass
- St. Augustinegrass
- Bahiagrass
- Centipedegrass
- Buffalograss
- Seashore Paspalum
- Kikuyugrass
Do not apply to cool-season lawns such as Tall Fescue or Kentucky Bluegrass.
What Certainty Controls
- Purple and Yellow Nutsedge
- Kyllinga species
- Globe and Annual Sedge
- Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua)
- Unwanted Tall Fescue
- Perennial Ryegrass (transition removal)
- Virginia Buttonweed (suppression)
Certainty is especially valuable for removing cool-season grasses from warm-season turf during spring transition.
When to Apply
- Apply to actively growing weeds
- Avoid mowing 2 days before or after treatment
- Apply during warm, growing conditions for best uptake
- Use a non-ionic surfactant for optimal performance
Application Rates (Per 1,000 sq ft)
Standard Rate: 0.028 oz per 1,000 sq ft
- Repeat in 3–4 weeks if needed
- Higher rate of 0.045 oz per 1,000 sq ft for dense infestations
Important: Always measure carefully. Certainty is highly concentrated and applied at very low use rates.
Why Choose Certainty?
- Highly selective for warm-season turf
- Excellent nutsedge control
- Effective Poa annua management
- Removes unwanted ryegrass and fescue during transition
- Professional-level results with small application amounts
Certainty® is the go-to solution for precision weed control in warm-season lawns — especially when managing sedges and cool-season grass contamination.
Always read and follow the product label. Use only on labeled turf species.

"I followed the instructions when applying the product, that was 8 days ago, the poa annua is just beginning to turn yellow. This is a very slow process but it is what it is."
